Below acts as a quick guide on statutory regulations regarding accounts:
- All companies are required to produce annual audited accounts, however under certain circumstances; small companies can apply for an audit exemption.
- A company requiring an audit must have their audit completed within seven months of their year end and filed with the Companies Office within nine months of their year end. Failure to do so will result in fines and possible prosecution and in some cases, the forfeiture of certain tax losses.
- Accounts must be produced by individuals, partnerships, trusts and companies that qualify for audit exemptions. These accounts are used in support of tax returns which must be made.
- In addition, a number of companies who do not employ an internal accountant will have HOHG produce interim accounts in order to monitor their financial performance against budgets and/or previous trading periods.
